Day 3
Hamburg, Germany

Seventy miles from the sea, on the Elbe River in northern Germany, Hamburg is the second largest port city in Europe and one of Germany’s most cosmopolitan, dynamic and fascinating destinations. The city has some 2,000 plus bridges - more than Venice and Amsterdam combined, earning Hamburg the moniker the ‘Venice of the North’. As well as exploring the city’s highlights, including its neo-renaissance and baroque architecture, Museum of Fine Arts and redbrick warehouse district, you can travel to attractive World Heritage city of Lübeck. Sample the famous Niederegger marzipan and explore Lübeck’s Old Town, where gabled houses and ancient churches span over 100 hectares.

Days 5-6
Rotterdam, Netherlands

The Dutch city never fails to captivate with its rings of canals and charming gabled houses. Grand art museums, quirky boutiques and flower markets are all likely to beguile you too.
Few have proved so adept at controlling the water in and around their borders as the Dutch, and nowhere proves this more than Amsterdam. Here canals create a swirl of arcs around the heart of this city. When they were built in the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries the purpose was to funnel the water from the marshland around and create usable strips of land in between.
The result was a triumph. It provided space for the terraces of handsome, tall and slim gabled houses to spring up. The canals themselves are beautiful too. Yours to explore by bike, by canal boat or on foot, they’re lined with trees and cafés and criss-crossed with charming humped bridges, many illuminated at night. No wonder the whole area is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 7
Zeebrugge (tours to Bruges), Belgium

Just seven miles from the city centre, the harbour-town of Zeebrugge is the gateway to Bruges for Cunard voyages. From here it’s just a short train journey to Bruges with its cobblestone streets lined with waffle houses and exquisite chocolate shops – an indulgence you won’t be able to resist taking home. Enjoy a scenic canal ride along the city’s waterways, pay a visit to the Basilica of the Holy Blood or climb the winding stairway of the medieval Belfry tower for remarkable views of the Bruges’s rooftops.
