Itineraries
Day 1 (Embark)
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Discover the charming port town of Civitavecchia, the gateway to Rome and the treasures of the Eternal City. Venture through Civitavecchia, noted for its fine seafood and beautiful monuments. Then, travel to Rome, with more than 2,500 years of history and ancient landmarks that will leave you with memories for a lifetime.
Day 2
Olbia (Sardinia), Italy

Olbia shines like a gem on the glorious Sardinian coastline. It's one of the Italian island's most picturesque seaside towns – think cobblestone piazzas, local markets, and 18th-century churches, flanked by pastel-colored buildings and underscored by a cheerful atmosphere wherever you go. The town is often overlooked as visitors head north to the heart-meltingly beautiful Costa Smeralda, Sardinia's de facto millionaire's playground. However, unlike some of the Med's other celeb hotspots, those who venture to the Emerald Coast will be pleasantly surprised by the accessibility to the public beaches – which is the case across the whole island. Olbia's Mediterranean waters are beautifully clear and home to hidden coves; exploring by boat gives visitors another perspective, not to mention a chance to discover beautiful white sand beaches accessible only from the sea. Sardinia has more sheep than people, so it remains relatively quiet, even during high season. To get away from it all and experience the genuine authenticity of the island, head up into the hills for a change of scene: green-carpeted mountains, flourishing trees laden with fruit and wildflowers as far as the eye can see. Once you've feasted your eyes, feast your tastebuds and stop for a spot of local food and wine – Su Porcheddu (roast suckling pig) is one of the island's specialties, along with Pane Carasau, a wafer-thin light bread and the foundation to any Sardinian meal. Washed down with a glass of local Vermentino and Cannonau wine.
Day 3
Portoferraio (Elba), Italy

Perhaps most famous for its exiled inhabitant, Napoleon Bonaparte, the island of Elba is a haven for the inquisitive traveler. Situated between the Northern Italian Coast and the French Island of Corsica, Elba's geographical location, combined with its mild climate, fertile valleys and cliff-fringed coasts, leaves little to be desired. Sweeping views of azure bays and scenic countryside meld with the fascinating history of this island to provide a visit that will not be forgotten.
Day 4
La Spezia, Italy

Situated between Genoa and Pisa on the Ligurian Sea, La Spezia is ideally positioned for day trips, most notably to the villages of the Cinque Terre. Clinging to the rugged coast that unfurls west of La Spezia, the villages and hillsides of this section of the Italian Riviera are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and reputed to be some of the most picturesque destinations of Italy, if not in the world. That is not to say that the town of La Spezia isn't worth spending some time in. It has an impressive nautical history, with the Naval Arsenal being developed here in the 1860s. Today, many nautical-themed diversions can be enjoyed, including a visit to the naval museum, or Museo Tecnico Navale, which exhibits an interesting collection of ships' figureheads. On display at the seafront are boats, parks, and people who gladly take in the Italian sunshine and demonstrate how to live la dolce vita.
Day 5
Portofino, Italy

Portofino, a picturesque Italian fishing village nestled along the Italian Riviera, epitomizes elegance and charm. Renowned for its exclusivity and allure, it has long been a haven for discerning travelers seeking a refined escape. The vibrant harbor, adorned with pastel-hued houses, exudes a timeless allure, while luxury yachts add a touch of opulence to the scene. For the well-traveled connoisseur, Portofino offers an exquisite fusion of gourmet cuisine, haute couture boutiques, and breathtaking coastal hikes. Whether basking in the Mediterranean sun on the beaches of nearby Santa Margherita Ligure, savoring delectable Italian delicacies, or immersing in the rich maritime history, Portofino promises an enchanting and unforgettable sojourn for those with a taste for the finer things in life.
Day 6
Savona, Italy

Savona is more than a destination; it's a sensory journey. A harmonious blend of history, coastal allure, and authentic Italian flavors awaits those who seek to uncover its unique essence. As one of the lesser-known Italian cities, Savona heaves with heaps of Italian Riviera authenticity. This charming town, dating back to Roman times, weaves its historical tapestry into its medieval architecture. The commanding Priamar Fortress stands as a sentinel of centuries past, a testament to Savona's strategic significance. Built between 1542 and 1544 the fortress is the biggest in the area and is perfect if you want great views of the city and the port. The coastline of course is a haven of relaxation, with inviting beaches caressed by the Ligurian Sea. Yet, Savona's beauty extends beyond the shores. Its cultural treasures, including the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and the Civic Art Gallery, provide insights into the town's artistic soul. If you still have time, head to the port for an aperitivo at the end of the day, and soak up the sights and sounds of this lovely city.
Day 7
Monte Carlo, Monaco

An ancient principality steeped in rich and colorful history, Monaco was bought from the Genoese in 1309 by the Grimaldis, who still rule as the world's oldest monarchy - presided over today by Prince Albert.
Day 8
Monte Carlo, Monaco
