Ready for the ultimate wild escape? Get ready to tick things off your bucket list with this small group safari in search of Kenya’s iconic Big Five.

Touch down in Nairobi, where your safari story starts. After a good night’s rest, you’ll hit the open road to Tsavo West National Park – a cinematic landscape of red dust, rocky outcrops, and ancient lava flows. This is the land of the famous “red elephants,” who love to coat themselves in the iron-rich soil. But they’re not alone. Keep your eyes peeled for lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, kudu, rhino, and the quirky long-necked gerenuk.

You’ll stay at Voyager Ziwani Tented Camp, perched beside a peaceful dam where hippos, crocs, and turtles laze in the water. Between morning and afternoon game drives, you’ll visit Mzima Springs, where crystal-clear pools shimmer in the sunlight and an underwater viewing chamber lets you spy on hippos gliding below the surface. When you’re not out spotting wildlife, kick back with a sundowner and gaze out at Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.

Next stop: Amboseli National Park, a wildlife haven framed by Africa’s tallest peak. Your base here is Ol Tukai Lodge, a classic safari lodge right in the heart of elephant country – and with over 1,000 elephants roaming the plains, you’re bound to see a few up close. Watch the sunrise turn Kilimanjaro’s snowy summit pink as zebras, wildebeest and buffalo graze nearby, and maybe spot a pride of lions on the move. With early morning, mid-morning and afternoon game drives, you’ll have endless chances to see Amboseli’s wild side, including its lush swamplands where elephants wallow and over 400 species of bird take flight.

Days 2 & 3

Voyager Ziwani Tented Camp

Voyager Ziwani is a luxury tented camp set in a conservancy on the edge of Tsavo National Park.

Voyager Ziwani is a luxury tented camp set in a conservancy on the edge of Tsavo National Park. Once a German garrison from WWII, it’s now a peaceful haven next to the Sante River and a dam where you may see hippos and crocodiles as well as a prolific range of birdlife.

It's one of the few camps that offers activities for children where they can learn about their natural environment and the local culture. From golden-breasted starlings to the Somali ostrich, the birdlife in Tsavo is prolific. Game drives explore the conservancy by day and night, bush walks will bring you closer to the smaller creatures and after dinner, you can go stargazing.

Days 4 & 5

Ol Tukai Lodge

This lovely, comfortable lodge has an incredible setting inside Amboseli National Park.

Ol Tukai Lodge has one of the best spots in Amboseli, backed by Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, and surrounded by open plains in some of the finest elephant-watching country in the world.

Monkeys and baboons roam the grounds and the dining room and garden terrace are just metres from the elephants, zebra and antelope that stalk the boundary. The two-storey open-air Elephant Bar is an excellent spot for cocktails  - head to the upper deck level to soak up the views of the marshlands and Kilimanjaro. Between safaris you can soak up the sun at the swimming pool, have a massage or plant a tree.
