Discover the scenic south-coast of Sri Lanka on a compact, tailored journey that blends colonial history, wildlife encounters and beach-side relaxation. You begin in the UNESCO-listed coastal town of Galle, wander its Dutch-era fortifications and boutique streets, then venture into the wilds of Yala National Park in search of leopards and sloth bears. Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival in Galle
On arrival, you're met by your private chauffeur-guide and transferred down to the south coast to Galle. Once here, you can settle into your hotel and enjoy some leisure time, depending on your flight time. If you have some time today, we recommend a gentle stroll around the local area, as Galle is an excellent city to explore on foot.
Day 2
Galle
Day 3
Galle
Today you can continue your exploration of Galle and the surrounding areas. We recommend joining a bicycle tour with a local, where you can learn even more about the people and culture of this place. Tonight, enjoy the sunset from one of the city's rooftop restaurants.
Day 4
Yala National Park
This morning, drive along the coast with your chauffeur-guide to Yala National Park. You have a couple of nights to maximise your chances of seeing the leopard and sloth bear in the area. En route, there's plenty to see, and you can ask your chauffeur-guide to stop for any photo opportunities.
Day 5
Yala National Park
Enjoy private safaris in Yala National Park in the morning and late afternoon. You are likely to see spotted deer, wild boar and wild elephant, and a wide variety of birds. If you are really lucky, you may also spot sloth bear and leopard — with on average one leopard per square kilometre. Yala has the highest density of leopards in Asia.
Day 6
Tangelle
Enjoy a lazy morning at your accommodation before you transfer to Tangalle, a drive of around two hours along Sri Lanka's south coast.
Day 7
Munduk
Enjoy your day at leisure relaxing on the beach.
Day 8
Makandura
Your chauffeur-guide will drive you to your hotel, near the international airport. Relax and enjoy your last evening in Sri Lanka.
Day 9
Return home
Today you're met by your chauffeur-guide and transferred to the airport. He will ensure you arrive at the airport in plenty of time for your onward flight. Your return flight will arrive the same day.
